EXPOSITIONS

The school-museum presents to the visitor the layout of an authentic school-living house, while the museum’s stands, display cabinets and screens acquaint with a collection of exhibits depicting the life and work of the writer. Visitors can take a seat on the benches of the old school and make photos, as well as listen to the melody of the preserved harp of Vydūnas.

Following the recommendations of Vydūnas, as a philosopher, the exposition is equipped with the ‘senses’ and ‘silence’ rooms, where visitors are invited to spend time in solitude, identify hidden objects, recognise smells, and experience tactile sensations.

The enamel art gallery installed in the outbuilding of the old school exhibits a collection of enamel art miniatures on the themes of the nature, ethno-culture, historical events and personalities of the coastal area created by Lithuanian and foreign artists within the Coastal Marks professional art project that has been continuing since 2003.

As part of the Genius Loci in dialogue and motion: creating space for tourism development EU programme project, the lighting of the yard and buildings of the Vydūnas Cultural Centre of Kintai, an illuminated path dedicated to Vydūnas’ quote ‘Be a light for yourself’, and a musical bench of Vydūnas were installed. The highlight of the yard is the bench – an art project reminiscent of the Vydūnas harp implemented by artist Mantas Maziliauskas and architect Egidijus Vidrinskas. The bench is equipped with lighting and a sound track, enabling the visitor to listen to songs composed by Vydūnas and get to know the ethno-cultural heritage of Lithuania Minor.
